Topic: Is it Possible to Have Less Contentious Legal Processes?
If your marriage is ending, you may feel overwhelmed. Often for the couple and for extended family and friends the worst part about a divorce is the contention felt by all.
Collaborative Law (also called Collaborative Divorce or Collaborative Practice) is a structured process that provides an alternative to court.
The Collaborative choice offers the opportunity to focus on what is important to you, your family and your future.
Collaborative law, started in Minnesota by Stewart Webb, is a new practice model for divorcing families that stresses “cooperation over confrontation and resolution over revenge.”
There are many collaboratively trained family law attorneys in Howard Court who believe that this model is better for families than the stressful, expensive and uncertain litigation model.

Tonight’s presenter is Ann Balcerzak, a parishioner at St. John’s, who graduated from the Columbus School of Law at The Catholic University of America.
Prior to that she earned a Master of Social Work degree from Marywood College School of Social Work.
Since graduating from law school she has practiced domestic law/family law in Howard County for over twenty years.

The Program is free, all are welcomed, and refreshments will be served. Many SJS attendees go out for a bite to eat after the meetings. No need to RSVP.
