ST. JOHN'S SINGLES SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
The staff of the Social Ministry Office is pleased to sponsor this group, which supports the social needs of single and single-again adults in our church community.
Begun in 2004 with 15 members, SJS has grown into a large, friendly, and active group of over 200. The membership ranges in age from early 40s to 60+. Our mission is to provide safe, comfortable, and enjoyable settings for single adults to socialize and get to know one another. You do not need to be Catholic to join SJS, but should feel in sync with the views and values of our parish community.
Please join us for a monthly meeting or RSVP for any event listed on our calendar. The format at monthly meetings is small group discussion or a speaker on a topic of interest to the group. You may contribute or not to any discussion, as you wish. All are very welcome!
If you are newly single (just out of a relationship, newly separated, widowed, or divorced), the Social Ministry Office can provide you with information for support groups tailored to meet the specific needs of your situation. When you are ready for social activities, the SJS activities and meetings can provide safe and comfortable settings in which to do so. sjs-sjerc@googlegroups.com and ask to be entered on our e-mail list. You will get announcements of activities, as well as some periodic reminders and follow-ups for our activities. Your e-mail address will remain private.
Sponsor an Event and Have It Posted to the Calendar
ALL members are encouraged to sponsor an event. This is a great way to get to know others in the group. It is also a great way to do those fun things that you would do if you had some company to do them.
Its easy to sponsor an event. Simply send an email to
sjs-sjerc@googlegroups.com with the details. Please see the current calendar for a good format. Include the following:
- Date and time of event
- Name and location of event
- A brief description
- Directions or how to get directions
- Name of Sponsor(s)
- RSVP information: Who to contact, telephone, e-mail, "need-by" date.
If you are not sure about all the details, talk with people at an event or meeting, or email a current sponsor. Other members will be glad to help you figure it out or put you in touch with a helper.
Activities Sponsored by Other Organizations
We require SJS sponsors for the events on our calendar. We will post the activities of other groups only if there is a specific personal invitation from an SJS member. The SJS member should provide all information noted in the previous topic.

If you are the sponsor of an event on our calendar, feel free to send any reminders/encouragements/etc. to
sjs-sjerc@googlegroups.com. We will forward your message to all those on our list.
