Small Church Communities (more
information)
A small church community is a group of 6 to 12 people who gather on a regular
basis (often weekly or every other week) to talk about the ways their faith
meets daily life. Some existing small groups are looking for new members - give me a call and we
can match you up to a group that meets in a time and place that is convenient
for you! It is easiest for people to begin their own groups - you choose
the day, the time, the schedule - and then ask your friends to join you!

Becoming Catholic (more information)
Every week Peter Barbernitz hosts gatherings for new and already-interested
Inquirers. These are very informal gathering to look at various aspects of our Catholic faith for those who aren’t ready (and may not ever be ready) to transition into the church.
If you are not Catholic but might like to be - give Peter a call! We
gather each week (September 12, 2010 to May 8, 2011) after the 11:30 mass at
Oakland Mills Interfaith Center (5885 Robert Oliver Place, Columbia MD, 21045).
People who have decided to explore becoming Catholic go through a process
called RCIA - The Rite of Christian Initiation for
Adults. This program meets on Sunday mornings from 10:00am to 11:30
at Oakland Mills Interfaith Center. We will begin our 2010 / 2011 year on
Sunday September 12, 2010. This process is for those who have never been
baptized as well as for those baptized into other Christian denominations.
Give Peter a call to talk about this opportunity!
Returning to the Church (more
information)
We warmly invite inactive or alienated Catholics to take another look at
their Catholic family of faith.. We would like to provide folks an opportunity to
explore why they left or drifted away, how the church has changed in their
absence, and what being faithful today is all about. Call Peter at 410
964-1430 to chat.
Welcoming Ministries
(more information)
Being a welcoming community is a very important part of the mission of St. John the Evangelist parish. We invite and welcome guests, newcomers, and one another as we gather to worship and carry out our baptismal call as disciples.
