ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Our mission is to help the adult community of St. John’s to (1) acquire an attitude of conversion to the Lord, (2) live the gift and choice of faith through membership in the Christian community, (3) be a Christian disciple in the world.

Watch this space and the weekly bulletin for a constantly evolving schedule of adult faith formation programs and events.

Scripture series 2007 / 2008
Sr. Joan Cook will present a short series: Great Stories from the Hebrew Bible on Thursday October 11, Thursday October 18 and Thursday October 25 at 7:30pm at Oakland Mills.  These are stories that you have heard here and there but probably can't share - come and get the background on them and then hear them re-told by a wonderful scripture scholar!  Sr. Joan Cook has her Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University and currently is teaching at Georgetown University.

Back by popular demand!  Fr. Jim Donahue from Mount Saint Mary's University will present a short scripture series in January of 2008!  He will join us at Oakland Mills at 7:30pm on Thursdays January 17, 24, and 31.  Mark your calendars in advance!

Catholic Reading Center
Copies of several of the most popular and helpful Catholic magazines published in the U.S. today are available for purchase at Wilde Lake Interfaith Center. Magazine titles include God’s Word Today, Sojourners, St. Anthony Messenger, and National Catholic Reporter. There are envelopes on the magazine rack to use for payment. Drop the envelopes in the weekly collection basket.

Interfaith Library
Many very helpful resources are available in the Interfaith Library at Wilde Lake. The library is open on Sunday mornings during and after Masses at Wilde Lake, and on Wednesday mornings. Volunteers will help you find what you want to read. Most materials can be checked out. The library now has copies of Origins, the Catholic News Service’s documentary service.
